This article sets forth some key reflections derived from a study on the building of social meaning by forcefully-displaced elders living in Comuneros I, a neighborhood in the Distrito de Aguablanca, in Cali. The elders’ perceptions and feelings about the displacement phenomenon, as well as the social interaction processes they are immersed in are shared. These reflections revolve around the role played by social workers in dealing with the forcefully-displaced population, in particular, and with forceful displacement as a crime against humanity, in general.
