From “invaders” to urbanized population : the symbolic closing of Potrero Grande inhabitants in Cali-Colombia

Potrero Grande is a neighborhood of eastern Cali built by Agents of the State to resettle a significant number of households living in marginal areas of the city. This neighborhood is considered as one of the most violent because it has the highest rates of homicide. This has impacted negatively on the imaginary of citizens who see in Potrero Grande hotbed of criminals. The urbanization presents a symbolic enclosure by marginalization, exclusion and stigma over their inhabitants.
