Constructivist structuralism and Social Work practicum
Main Article Content
This paper presents the general guidelines for approaching practicums in the process of training social workers, in order to outstrip activism and to transcend theoretical positions about society; this will allow professionals to raise their academic ambitions, to fulfill their ethical obligation with society–in a more responsible and less intuitive manner–, and to create knowledge about micro- and meso- social matters. The text begins with abrief discussion on the separation of theory and professional work; then, it presents Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical concepts, which offer a more complete vision of the potential scenarios for professional practicum; finally, all those elements that social work would be required to question and build in its relation with human groups will appear.
