Traveling in a carousel, an illusion of movement
Main Article Content
This paper presents a reflection on the patterns of interaction occurringduring consultation between a therapist and a couple receiving therapy.Using the epistemological system approach as a reference, it shows thatthis course is determined by the experiences that each participant bringsto consultation, and therefore a pattern is woven together, co-constructingthe course of therapy while each participant generates and receives certainthoughts or concerns according to their needs.
In this reflection, the author proposes an exercise of self-reference,which challenges the notion of objectivity sought in the therapeutic process. This approach perceives such process as being complex, as an image of thecomplexity of human relations and all their intentions and desires, thusaccepting the subjectivity they entail. With this approach, therapists areinvited to recognize that the role of mediator of the story is built in allrelationships, and that this exerts an influence on the process in progress.
