Mono-parental families headed by women in Nuevo Leon, Mexico

This article shows the results of a research about mono-parental families headed by women in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. It examines the relationship between demographic and economic characteristics (income and expenses)in this kind of household. Using statistical data from Encuesta Nacional deIngresos y Gastos en los Hogares (ENIGH) 2004, the study shows that, compared with other types of household in the state, no direct relationship between poverty and vulnerability, and the living conditions of female headed household.
