The Construction of Subnormal Human Settlements in Flooding-affected Places and the Conservation of a Riverbed

This article presents the findings of a study on how a subnormal human settlement was built on a riverbank, in urban Giron Municipality, in Santander Department. An analysis is offered which shows the power relationships exerted by people to seize the land the settlement was built in, ignoring current Colombian public environmental and urban policies.
